Olie Bassweight (aka Evil) is a name that has become synonymous with the burgoning New Zealand dubstep scene. His brainchild Bassweight Recordings was launched in 2007 originally a digital label but now releasing vinyl and CDs. Bassweight has been the vehicle for Olie to release the music he thinks needs to be heard and has helped bring New Zealand Dubstep to the world.

Support for his label was immense, and over the last few years, Bassweight has received support from some of the biggest players in the game. Bassweight is home to some of New Zealand’s best producers Iincluding, Organikismness, Optimus Gryme, Consequence, P Vans & RQ, And international artists such as Helixir, Selfsimilar & Rick Dias to name a few… no doubt proving he has a great ear for good music.

Olie joins Anomaly as an outlet for his Jungle Tekno tracks, with his first release ‘Swarm’ appearing on Anomaly ANM006 – Swarm EP.

His tight mixing and rudebwoy selections have cemented his place as one of the busiest DJs In New Zealand, having a constant touring schedule playing the Australian and New Zealand Club & Festival circuit.
